SPORTFEST DAY

So let me tell you a little story about my life, and hopefully inspire you along the way.

When I was gonna be Grade 10 on the new school that I got transferred to, I was pumped and ready. I was taking notes on what can I do to improve at this new school year. I think I also shaved my mustache for the first time. (Having a baby face felt weird, not gonna lie.)

In school, I’m always disciplined and ready to conquer the day. I would always tell myself that “this is it! let’s do this” before I go to school.

I was a shy kid. I wanted to always make friends with my classmates, be a leader, and be awesome in school. Fear can stop you. But there is days where I was courageous, and I tell myself “why was I afraid of this? pfft.”.

So let’s go backwards in time. A time where it was Sportfest day in school.

As we arrive at the place where we go and play the event, I was pumped to ‘face my fears!’. I saw this one stranger sitting at the sidelines, he was holding a phone vertically and my first thoughts that he was probably playing a game. I realized that he was the perfect victim for my challenge.

So I went to him so boldly and dominantly, my fear is saying “STOP” but I storm through. and then I asked him such a profound question.

“What rank are you in that game?” I said.

“Oh I’m rank 5, you?” He replied.

“Rank 1, haha, everyone seems to play this game now.” I replied back.

“Yeah, everyone of my classmates demanded me to play this game, shit is crazy.” He said back.

Then what happens next after this were phenomenal.

Silence for a few seconds.

Then I left.

Okay look, I shoulda said like “goodbye” or something but hey I still won. There were more courageous, socialization that I did at this event where I would walk up to somebody and just.. talk. Compliment a syrian’s guy beard, talked to 2 guys about basketball, helped clean the stage at the center of the event.

I was dominating and just being courageous. EASY PEASY.

THE FUNNY PART

As I’m writing this, I start to realize that there really isn’t a reason to be afraid of anything. (unless you’re gonna kill yourself but you get the point)

There’s a buttload of reason to not be afraid of anything:

  • You’re gonna die anyways, and that person is gonna die anyways.
  • This is your life, you might as well live it and follow your own path.
  • All what you’ve wanted is on the other side of fear.
  • and a bunch more reasons.

Remember, being afraid is normal. It’s just part of the human experience.

Wanna be less afraid about that thing? Then just feel the fear and go on despise that fear.

Embrace Fear. Love Fear. Make it your ally, not enemy. Feel the fear and do it anyways. And if you backed off because of fear, don’t beat yourself up. Just try again next time.

You already know what to do.

Just stop overthinking and overcomplicating things and you just gotta do it 😉

I believe in you. Once you face your fears, that’s where life starts.
